the story

Alba & Tiago

Alba & Tiago

Alba and Tiago are Venezuelan 14-year old twin siblings, separated by a storm eight years ago. Tiago now lives in Canada and Alba in Venezuela. Caribe begins when they each discover, at the same time, that the other sibling is alive.

Alba & Tiago

Caribe is written in Spanish and English, by Maria Urbina-Fauser, a Venezuelan living in Vancouver, Canada. She wrote it for her two sons, Simón & Mateo, as a way for the whole family to reconnect with their Venezuelan roots. Maria has now translated Caribe into English, and soon into Spanish, so that even more children can enjoy it.

the cause

Children in Venezuela

Venezuela is going through a humanitarian emergency affecting millions of people. Almost three quarters of children in poor areas suffer from malnutrition, and many are dying because of it. Hunger arrived at hundreds of thousands of homes in Venezuela and now dwells there; many families can barely afford one meal per day - Meals4Hope.

Maria initially wrote this book for her sons, but soon discovered that this story is for all Venezuelan children. She hopes that by sharing this edition more widely she can help raise awareness of the more than 3 million children in Venezuela in need of humanitarian assistance.
